My Weeklong Sidekick.......

I have a sidekick for the rest of the week! Doctor's orders.
It seems Tessa will be at home til this pain/infection rids itself from her body. About a week doc said. Its been one long week for her already!!!
Since the pain started on last week Tuesday along with her monthly "friend" she has been in pain. As the "friend" ended its visit and the pain intensified its been a roller coaster of PAIN!
There has only been a 5 hour period since Saturday when the pain hit an all time high that she has been half comfortable. And that was the first time she took two pain pills. After that taking two pills didnt cut it anymore.
Going to school and having too much movement and sitting straight up made the already intense pain sky rocket. So off we went to the doctor in hope for some help with this and a recheck.
The WY hospital was very good about getting the records to our doc asap when I explained the situation. Our doc was very glad to have them too.
The recheck showed that everything is the same other than the extreme pain had worsen and spread to a larger area.
To get the pain under control the doctor had an IV put in(at the clinic) and administered a pain med through it. And a nausea med. The girl was finally able to have some relief from the extreme pain and could even stand up a little straighter.....but only for a short while. He added another widespread antibiotic and changed the pain medication.
All the girl does is lay down, get up for some food, and use the bathroom. The pain is still barely tolerable.
This doc has only seen this type of infection in three other patients. There are so many things that cause an intestinal infection so its hard to pinpoint what caused it. We only know we want rid of it!!!! She had three times this summer when she had gotten very sick after eating. Sometimes it was running to the restroom. Sometimes it was a headache and fever. All would pass within a short time so never thought too much of it. Food allergy maybe? So she avoided the food as she usually does anyway. But being it passed and she was back to feeling like herself we didnt give it too much thought. She never had any lingering sickness to have indicated an infection that we can pinpoint anyway. Like doc said- she was in the wrong place at the wrong time!
We are just praying for some improvement with her soon! That the new antibiotic helps. And with that the pain lessens. Disappears. Never to be seen from again!
Infection in lymph nodes is NO.fun.at.all!
May her smile return for her soon........

Poor thing!

Maybe another IV line and good drugs to give her a respite?

That is so scary. Stay on top of this (duh...I am sure you do and will). My hubby had pain like that, then a fever, then throwing up and shaking uncontrollably. Yes, he went to the Dr. several times, then we went to the emergency room and had tests run and they put him in the hospital for a 'blood infection'. Heavy duty antibiotics saved his life. Really. Then they took his gallbladder out that seemed to have caused all this. Good luck, no, not luck, God be with her. I will pray for her. I guess labor can't be that bad after going through this (o:
