We are back from our trip to Mayo Clinic with Tessa.
The diagnosis for the pain- damaged muscle.
Treatment- steroid injection. Rest. Rest. Rest. Learn to move differently so not to pull on the muscle(groin area). Sit differently. No exercise. No stretching. No lifting. No working at the daycare for 6 weeks.
May take up to three months to heal completely.
Follow up- Return to Mayo in one month with more medical records. Doctors want to get to the bottom of all that she has going on. They are not ruling out the mesenteric lymphadenitis or endometriosis. They believe she has multiple things going on.
The surgeon is certain that it is a damaged muscle. He does not think the pain has to do with the enlarged lymph nodes or endometriosis. But why her menses coincides with the pain is yet to be found.
So we left there without surgery as they want to do more research and let this steroid injection prove itself.
We have alot more questions. But so do the doctors.
So we wait again.
And rest, rest, rest.
She is not going to school today as the injection was very painful. As one can imagine that the site is too painful to touch then you root around in it with a syringe. Wowsers.
Doctor said it may be a few days til it settles down and then she should not have much/no pain in the site.
Learning to think of your every move before moving....that is going to be the test.

That poor girl. Big hugs.Seems to me they could hurry up more.
Kath, I think and pray for her often. That whole move differently thing - that's gotta be hard!
well...
I think it is a good sign when a DR. doesn't rush into surgery. At least they are not out to make a buck.
If she can get that muscle healed up, she can start to feel like tackling the other problems.
How hard for all of you! Especially her of course.
I had been wondering how it was going...thanks for the update.
Will keep all of you in Prayers.
Hoping this leads to answers and healing!
Hope the injection gives her relief. Hoping you can get those answers you want and need - soon!
Though she is in some pain now I think it was all good. They didn't do surgery and they are not just pacifying it with meds. So all in all it was encouraging. Hope she feels better soon.
I think that is more good news than not but poor girl what a lot to handle. I'll keep all of you in my prayers.
I hope the injection does the trick - she's certainly had a trial of it. She is going to have to be careful - will continue to pray for her recovery
Renata :)
